What the hi-vis classes actually mean
ANSI/ISEA 107 sets a minimum AREA of fluorescent background and reflective tape. The class is the area, not the brightness.
Class 3 needs 1,240 square inches of background and 310 square inches of tape, which is why it needs sleeves. A vest alone cannot reach Class 3.

How to read this grid. ● the style has it Class 3 top of the range Class 2 middle of the range Background or reflectors only compliant material, no class Empty not claimed
The comparison above puts two garments side by side. This grid puts all of them on one screen, so you can choose on a class or a feature instead of stepping through pairs.
Background only and reflectors only garments are made with ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 compliant material but are not rated garments, so they carry no class.
